Arrival by Air
Three major airports serve Glasgow: Glasgow International Airport, located just eight miles (13 kilometers) west of Glasgow city centre; Edinburgh Airport (less than one hour away); and Glasgow Prestwick International Airport, located 30 miles (48 kilometers) south of Glasgow.
Arriva’s Glasgow Flyer (service route 500) operates frequent shuttles from Glasgow Airport to Glasgow city centre. The transfer takes approximately 25 minutes and drops passengers off at various locations in the city centre, close to key public transport hubs, including Glasgow Central and Queen Street railway stations and Buchanan Bus Station. A single fare to the city centre is approximately £3.95. Bus stops in the city centre have an “airport link” logo. At the airport all bus stops are located on the terminal forecourt. These airports offer direct flights from many European cities, including the key European hubs of Amsterdam, Brussels, Copenhagen, Frankfurt and Paris. Major airlines servicing the Glasgow area include Air Lingus, Ai Malta, Air Scotland, British Airways, British Midlands, Flybe, Lufthansa, Emirates, Continental Airlines, EasyJet, KLM, Icelandair and Ryanair.
Arrival by Rail
Glasgow Central Station is a key hub in the national rail network and provides excellent onward travel to the many attractions and places of interest within Greater Glasgow and the Clyde valley. A bus service operates from Gordon Street at the front of the station, to Glasgow Queen Street Station and Buchanan Bus Station.
Glasgow Queen Street Station is the second main line station situated in the city centre. This station offers links to many destinations in and around greater Glasgow and links to the North of Scotland. In addition, its express service to Edinburgh takes less than 50 minutes and runs every 15 minutes. Coach Travel

Taxis
Airport taxis are available 24 hours a day to any destination in the Glasgow area. Taxi drivers meter the entire journey and publish their scales of charges. Drivers and passengers may negotiate prices for longer distance journeys. The taxi fare from Glasgow Airport to Glasgow City Centre is approximately £18 to £20, depending on traffic conditions. The taxi area is located at the front of the main terminal building.
Road
The SECC has a number of car parks located on site. Please note that the SECC is currently undergoing a large redevelopment which has resulted in all car parking now being located at the rear of the building. Parking currently costs £5.00 per day.

Swarovski optic green travel prize
There are many travel options available for ECCB 2012. By aeroplane, by foot, by boat, by
train … The mode of transport can make a huge difference when it comes to CO2 emissions. For obvious reasons we have to stop emitting so much CO2. ECCB has the tradition of ecofriendly organization and this year we hope to extend our efforts.
To promote travel with a smaller carbon footprint, ECCB 2012 present the "Swarovski optic green travel prize". The winner of this competition will win a pair of brand new swarovision EL 32. Like the conference theme, these binoculars are sharp "on the edge" and are your perfect travel mate. The rules of the game are easy. The person who travels the longest cumulative distance to the congress, without fossil fuels wins the competition.
Have you ever thought of traveling to a conference by bike, sailboat, solar driven car or perhaps, a canoe? This is your chance.
We invite all participants to consider how they can diminish their carbon footprint. The most inventive ideas will be presented in plenary session and the winner will take the Swarovski swarovision El 32 home…
Participants can submit their travel details when checking in at the congress.
Distance traveled by each method of transport must be provided with proof of the start and end points of each leg of the journey.
